Information for Volunteers

Whether you have a family member in the program or you're an invested community member with a passion for the sport, volunteering to be one of our Head or Assistant Coaches is a rewarding responsibility.

COACHING REQUIREMENTS:

1. Have an active MyRec account and current coach registration for the upcoming sport you intend to coach. This is a separate registration from your child's player registration and should be completed as soon as possible to help us plan a successful season.
2. Completion of the online volunteer background check. For returning coaches, this background check must be completed every 2 years.https://v2-trionaid.screenmenow.com/v2/home?c=SLTR_00229
3. Completion of the Rutgers SAFETY Clinic. This is a one-time certification course. HP REC will provide one course each season at our community center (MyRec registration required). COACHING EXPECTATIONS:
BE PRESENT Communication with the team, regular practices and regular attendance of games is essential for everyone’s success.
LEAD BY EXAMPLE Good sportsmanship, positive thinking and love of the game are skills learned by seeing how it’s done.
CREATE A FUN ENVIRONMENT FOR LEARNING Inclusivity, encouragement and equal playtime will allow all children to grow their athletic abilities while also having a great experience.
