Participant Behavior Policy


Highland Park Recreation Program participants may not engage in any behavior that would endanger the health, safety or well-being of any participant, player, staff member, coach, parent, official or any other attendee. All participants must treat any other participant, player, staff member, coach, parent, official or any other attendee with respect regardless of race, creed, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation or ability.
 
The following are reasons we may have to suspend or expel a participant from
Recreation Programming:

CAUSES FOR IMMEDIATE EXPULSION:
  • The participant is at risk of causing serious injury to other participants or themselves.
  • Participant’s possession of and/or use of a knife, firearm, firecracker, explosive or any other form of weapon.
  • Participant’s possession of and/or use of tobacco, vape, alcohol or illegal drug.
  • Inappropriate touching of self or others by the participant.
  • Parent threatens physical or intimidating actions toward staff members.
  • Parent exhibits verbal abuse to staff in front of enrolled participants.
GUARDIAN/ADULT ACTIONS FOR PARTICIPANT’S SUSPENSION/EXPULSION:
  • Failure to pay/habitual lateness in payments.
  • Habitual tardiness when picking up your youth participant.
  • Verbal or physical abuse to staff.
PARTICIPANT’S ACTIONS FOR SUSPENSION/EXPULSION:  
  • The participant is a safety threat to themselves, other participants, staff or volunteers. This includesbut is not limited to behavior such as physically harming, fighting, striking, biting and wandering away from the program.
  • Uncontrollable tantrums/angry outbursts.
  • Ongoing physical or verbal abuse to staff or other participants.
  • Frequently using profanity, vulgarity, obscenity, and/or acting in a lewd manner.
SCHEDULE OF EXPULSION:
  • Verbal warning by recreation staff or instructor.
  • Written warning by recreation management.
  • Suspension (length determined by recreation management) from current recreation programming.
  • Expulsion from current recreation programming.
  • Expulsion from all current and future recreation programming.
